A practical evening in or near the club. Get your gear ready!
Workshop Objective:
This workshop is designed to debunk a common myth in photography – that aperture (f-stop) is the primary factor in achieving background blur. While f-stop, focal length, and distance all contribute to background blur (also known as bokeh), the emphasis here is on showing how the distance between the subject and the background has the most significant impact. This knowledge is essential for photographers who may feel pressured to invest in expensive lenses to achieve that coveted creamy bokeh, when adjusting distance can often deliver the desired effect without extra cost.
This workshop is about empowering photographers to get creative with what they already have and to prioritise knowledge over expensive gear. We’ll be putting these theories to the test through practical demonstrations, with plenty of time for discussion and Q&A at each station.

Please bring either 2 different focal length lenses, or a telephoto lens (24-70 or 24-105 or similar) to make a big distinction during the experiment.
